Nov 2024 Topic of Sacrament of Confirmation At-Home Mission for K-8

Family At-Home Mission Activity Confirmation is the Sacrament of Christian Initiation that completes baptismal grace. A person is sealed with the Holy Spirit and strengthened by grace and spiritual gifts to spread and defend the faith and to live as a true disciple of Jesus.

Step 1: As a family, together, watch one or more of the videos below based upon your children's age.

For tweens & teens & parents:

For younger children:

Acts of the Apostles: What is Pentecost? | What’s in the Bible?

Step 2: Parents look for Confirmation items or sacramental(s) that they received when they were confirmed. This could be a prayer book, rosary, or crucifix/cross, stole, photos, or a picture of the saint whose name you chose for your Confirmation. Bring those items to the Week 3 gathering.

Step 3: Color, cut, tape and place your Take -Home Paper Pentecost Candle on your home altar next to your family bible and pray a decade of the Rosary together meditating on the Third Glorious Mystery, The Descent of the Holy Spirit Upon the Apostles. Ask the Holy Spirit to come into your hearts! The file is here below if you'd like more copies. A nod to the Apostles receiving the gift of speaking in tongues, it has the word 'hello' in many languages.

Did You Know?

The Descent of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost

Did you know that the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost is understood by the Church as the fulfillment of Christ’s Passover or Paschal Mystery? See CCC, no. 731. In other words, everything that Jesus did for us in His Cross and Resurrection—in His whole life and mission—was directed toward this outpouring of the Holy Spirit, which continues in and through the Church today, especially in her sacraments. The Holy Spirit is the Third Divine Person of the Most Blessed Trinity. On the day of Pentecost, “the Holy Trinity is fully revealed” (CCC, no. 732).
