Question of the Week

SEP 27 • 26th Sunday in Ordinary Time The Challenge to Forgive

A man had two sons; he went to the first and said, “Son, go and work in the vineyard today.” He answered, “I will not”; but later he changed his mind and went. The father went to the second and said the same; and he answered, “I go, sir”; but he did not go. Which of the two did the will of his father? They said, “The first.” (Matthew 21:28–31)

2nd Philippians 2:1-11 - Imitating the humility of Christ

Gospel Matthew 21:28-32 - Parable of the two sons

▶ Kids: Why is it important to follow through on your promises to others?

One of the spring faith formation tasks was to go over the Apostle’s Creed with your kids. “Who do we believe created heaven and earth? What do we believe happened to Jesus at Christmas and at Easter? Who do we believe was the Mother of Jesus? What do we believe happens when we die?”We’d like you to review that again with a couple activities for different age groups.

Table Prayer (everyone) this can be used once, or as often as you like at home. It seems simple, but makes you think.

Table Prayer: Acting, Speaking & Listening

Leader:

Let us pray in gratitude for the ways we used our bodies, our voices and our ears to do some good for another person today.

Invite each person at the table to share one way they acted, spoke or listened in order to help another person today.

Leader:

Saint Paul told us that we are the body of Christ. Our good actions, words and listening have made Jesus’ presence clearer to others today. Let us use the energy we receive from this food to continue the good work of Christ tomorrow. Amen.
