September At-Home Mission "Homework"

Family At-Home Mission Activity – Week of Sept 15, 2024

Your Family At-Home Mission is to, as a family, watch one or more of the videos about the Seven Sacraments, reach out to a grandparent or senior adult to ask them about their experiences of the sacraments, and enjoy making Holy Halo treats! Lastly, gather around your home altar/prayer space, light your blessed votive candle, and pray a decade of the Rosary in honor of Our Blessed Mother Mary’s birthday!

Step 1: As a family, together, watch one or more of the following videos on the seven sacraments. They are all short, about 5 min or less. The 3rd one is the connection of the Old Testament Covenants with God to the New Testament Covenant through partnership with Jesus.

Step 2:  Reach out to a grandparent(s) or senior adult(s) in your family/ community and interview them about sacraments. Take notes and be prepared to share about what your grandparent or senior adult said at the Week 3 gathering.

Ask:

Which sacrament do you remember the best and why?

Which sacrament were you the most excited about receiving and why?

Which sacrament has helped you the most and why?

Step 4: Optional: Enjoy making Holy Halo Treats together! This video is for the youngest, but the treats are for us all!

Step 5: Place your blessed, votive candle on your home altar/prayer space, and as a family, pray a decade of the Rosary in honor of Mary’s birthday during the month of September.

(Please note that anything that has been blessed, like the candle, rosaries, bibles, etc, upon disposal, if they break, or are unwanted anymore, must be buried in the ground or burned. They must not be thrown in the regular trash out of respect, kind of like the American flag.)
